A Most Valuable Thing
Winston Churchill said “truth is the most valuable thing in the world, It is so valuable, in fact, that at times it has to be hidden and protected by a body guard of lies.
Ever wonder if the truth is still the truth if one has to lie to maintain it’s integrity. Above one can see the geo-political view point of such a question in which the maneuvering of the truth often has to be done in order to have a successful out come. Not to get into any political debate, but what often amazes me and especially in current events is how one section or “side” is saying that it was lies which were used to validate a particular aggression. But let us move on before I get off into something which my views are very extensive and often considered too “right winged”. (Hmm, wondering if that is the opposite of “wrong winged”.)
Let us see, and or listen to, a view point about objective truth as stated by atheist, existentialist who’s writings acted in capacity of guru to Hitler and Stalin; his name, Nietzsche. “The real truth about objective truth is that the latter is a fiction. Every candidate for truth must first be expressed in language and language is notoriously unable to get to reality. Words, like a hall of mirrors, reflect only each other and in the end point back to the conditions of their users, without having to establish anything about the way things really are. Truth is the name we give to that which agrees with our own instincts and preferences. It is what we call our interpretation of the world officially, especially when we want to foist it upon others. But I am still too pious, that even I still worship at the alter where god’s name is truth.”
This sounds real good until one stops and realizes that the truth which is being recognized by Nietzsche is only one which he, himself, is foisting upon others. So if the truth is what he is stating is truth how did he arrive at that truth without being guilty of what he himself said was the fallacy and fiction of objective truth. In fact after making the great statement which his mind proponed as profundity and beyond; he saw himself, how his own words made themselves and his thoughts self destruct. Did anyone see the contradiction? Here it is. “But I am still too pious, that even I still worship at the alter where god’s name is truth.” (little G for quote accuracy not denoting the true God)
Here is the quick point from a tired mind: Even in denying the truth as and absolute one must establish parameters in order to do so. If there are no absolutes then there are no parameters by which to measure it and as such, if there is no measure then there is no comparison and without a comparison one is back to the original of looking for a method of arriving at the truth. Any method suggest an absolute to which one must bow the knee. You see the only way to deny the truth is with a lie. The mind of Nietzsche was brilliant; of that there is no discussion. The only problem is that he was deceived by his father, the father of all lies. Although proponing to think critically there is a bias in his unbelief which left him and his thoughts, using words which “like a hall of mirrors, reflect only each other and in the end point back to the conditions of their users; without having to establish anything about the way things really are.”
But there is one thing in which He was right but in misuse, the enormity of which was not recognized by his shallow mind. In life and in death, knowingly or not, willingly or not
He did, he does, and will forever bow his knee to the God who’s name is Truth.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comethunto the Father, but by me.
Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Christ being truth, then it is by and to, TRUTH, that every knee, including that of Nietzsche and of any other, including things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth, shall Bow!
David
Amen, brother?
